JOAQUIN “EL CHAPO” GUZMAN LOERA EXTRADITED TO UNITED STATES

WASHINGTON, United States – Joaquin Archivaldo Guzman Loera, known by various aliases including “El Chapo,” has been extradited to the United States to face criminal charges in connection with his leadership of the Mexican organized crime syndicate known as the “Sinaloa Cartel.”




Guzman Loera is charged in six separate indictments throughout the United States.
The Justice Department extends its gratitude to the Government of Mexico for their extensive cooperation and assistance in securing the extradition of Guzman Loera to the United States.

Guzman Loera is charged in six separate indictments throughout the United States; however, the indictment filed in the Eastern District of New York contains a provision that he must first enter the United States in that district to preserve the Eastern District of New York indictment, the Justice Department said.

“As such, Guzman Loera landed at Long Island MacArthur Airport in Islip, New York”, the department said in a statement.
