LAGOS, Nigeria – Vice Chairman of the All Progressive Congress (APC) in the North West has allegedly misappropriated Presidential Campaign Council Funds and N21 million given by the national secretariat of the party for the purchase of furniture.

APC Zonal Women Leader, Hajiya Aisha Kaita made the revelation in a press statement obtained by www.starconnectmedia.com.
Kaita who is also a member of the Zonal Executive Council said her committee will investigate the zonal vice chairman for his financial recklessness.

“He single handedly opened and operated account in the name of North West Zonal Committee with him as sole signatory to the account in total violation of article 23 (iii) of the party’s constitution. Furthermore as an elected member of the zonal committee, I am aware that the Presidential Campaign Council Funds that was meant for the zone was misappropriated by the zonal vice chairman.

Similarly, the N21 million given by the national secretariat for the zonal office furniture was also misappropriated by him and this has rendered the zonal office not to be functional”, she said. According to her, the development is clearly not acceptable when viewed against the effort of Mr. President on the war against corrupt practices.

“As spelt out in our constitution, one of the constitutional roles of the zonal executive committee is to guide and advice the state executive committee on means of strengthening the party within the zone. But the zonal vice chairman is doing the direct opposite of this constitutional responsibility as he has repeatedly plunged two of the states into crisis”, she further alleged.

She alleged that Abdulkadir single handedly changed the delegate list of Kaduna state and unilaterally formed two facts finding committees within the state without consulting any of the 3 zonal officials from the states. “Additionally, the report of the committees was placed within the public domain even before its submission to the zonal office and the zonal recommendation to the national secretariat.

“Consequently, he alone endorsed a new chairman for the party in Kano state without giving credence to the fact that even the zonal executive council does not have the authority to remove any state chairman, let alone, a unilateral action by him”, she said adding that these actions and inactions have only succeeded in further escalating the crisis within the two states.
