LONDON – A service police officer, James McKibbin, 30, attached to Richmond Borough was charged on Monday, 7 November charged with attempted rape.

The alleged offence, according to Metropolitan Police did not take place while the officer was on duty. The offence was said to have occurred between January and December 2012 at a location in South Croydon.


He has been bailed to appear at Westminster Magistrates’ Court on Monday, 5 December. The officer was arrested in April 2016, following an investigation by detectives from the Sexual Offences, Exploitation and Child Abuse Command.

The Met’s Directorate of Professional Standards has been informed about the attempted rape case, while James McKibbin has been placed on restricted duties.
