ROTARY CLUB DONATES 50 FURNITURE TO LAGOS SCHOOL, INAUGURATES INTERACT CLUB

Lagos, Nigeria – In its bid to enhance effective education in District 9110 and Lagos State generally, Rotary Club of Ikeja, has donated 50 furniture to Ikeja Senior High School, Lagos.

The event which took place at the school premises, had in attendance members of the Club and the Lagos State Deputy Governor, Alhaja (Dr) Idiat Adebule, who was represented by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Education, Mr Adesina Odeyemi.


Speaking on behalf of the Deputy Governor, Mr Adesina Odeyemi, eulogized the Club for the development of humanity, commending the Club for playing the complementary role of supporting public school in the spirit of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR).

“The area you have chosen to support is a very important one to enhance effective teaching and learning in the classrooms. With this donation, you have complemented the efforts of government and helped in bringing additional ones that make it more adequate for use in the school”, said Adebule

She added “I believe that the effort and commitment of corporate organisations and indeed all stakeholders will help enhance effective, functional and quality education we all desire in Lagos State. I would therefore like to use this forum to urge all stakeholders to consider education as the greatest investment in raising a generation of intellectually sound and morally upright potential leaders”, said Adebule.

While speaking with newsmen, the President of Rotary Club of Ikeja, Rotarian Olaitan Ojuroye, explained that the motivation behind the donation was bore out of desire to serve humanity, stressing that the Club is to help people to live up to expected standard of living in the society.

Ojuroye added that last year the club was in a neighboring school to give the students eye glasses because the club saw it as a great empowerment to the students.

“This year we are shifting to this school based on the demand of the principal because initially we asked the principal what the school needs and the principal said the school needs furniture. We do things based on the pressing needs of the community”, said Ojuroye.


Speaking on the inauguration of Interact Club in the school, Rotarian Ojuroye stated that the idea of the inauguration was to inculcate the principle and morals of Rotary Club in the students while they are young, stating further that the Rotary Club would mentor the interact in the spirit of humanity.

Over 20 students were inaugurated as members of the Interact Club.
