GO FOR GLORY, AARON SAMUEL TELLS RIVERS UNITED
Port Harcourt, Nigeria – Super Eagles striker, Aaron Samuel believes Rivers United can stun bookmakers and punch above their weight in the 2017 Caf Champions League.
United will participate in Africa’s premier club competition for the first time in their history in 2017 after they finished in second place in last season’s Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL).
The 22-year-old believes United have the players to compete with the best on the continent and is tipping the Port Harcourt club to ruffle a few feathers next year.
“Merging two clubs (Sharks and Dolphins) and making them one (Rivers United) has made them stronger.
“They have good players like Markson Ojobo and Bernard Ovoke and I know new players will join too which will make them even stronger.
“They also have an excellent coach in Stanley Eguma; the man who first taught me what it means to be a professional footballer so I am confident Rivers United can surprise many by doing very well the Caf Champions League next season,” he told the club’s official website, www.riversunitedfc.com.ng.
Aaron has been seven capped times by Nigeria at senior level and has scored twice for the Super Eagles.
