NOLLYWOOD ACTRESS, VICTORIA INYAMA OPENS UP ON ABUSIVE, ADULTROUS MARRIAGE
Nigeria, Oct 6, 2016 – These are obviously not the best of times for talented Nollywood actress, Victoria Inyama-Okri. The actress who was one of those that started what has become an industry today married into the family of the famous author of Famished Road, Ben Okri.
She relocated to the United Kingdom shortly after her marriage which has since been blessed with children. But the pretty screen idol is having a very difficult time in her marriage. Her looks currently betray her personality and charms. She was beauty to behold and a lady every filmmaker in Nollywood then hanging out at Winnies and others wanted to be with.
But all those beautiful charms are gone, no thanks to brutality on the home front.
She is beaten, physically abused allegedly by her husband who is alleged to have been cheating on her. The lady who has endured the beatings for time in silence decided to take to the social media to pour out her feelings about the very sweet marriage that has turned sour.
Posting on her wall, a very close friend said, she has been through a lot even with the police stepping in at some stage to rescue her. We learnt that Victoria’s devotion to the scriptures and leaning for advice from the men of God seems to be her greatest undoing.
We gathered that her pastor has often kept her in the marriage bond based on scriptural injunctions which prohibits remarriage if he decides to live apart from her husband.
“So today on the train I get to talk with this nice lady. She’s been through so much in her bad marriage. Somehow the police gets involved and she’s removed from that unsafe environment especially as children are involved. The issue now is one of the many Pastors whom she used to run to for help and prayers now tell her That if she decides to end the abusive marry, the Bible says she is not allowed to remarry.
“Ok so if that’s what the bible says then she suggests that what she would have done was after he beats her, she would have waited for him to sleep then she should have waited tied him up and beat him up too or done( something) worse to him.
“So I ask did the Bible truly say one should stay In an Abusive marriage riddled with lies, cheating and adultery? Did the bible or the People that wrote the bible not get a revelation ? Is it fair? If that’s the case then I would probably agree on an eye for an eye. Since it’s not biblically? Religiously or Christianly to leave? Then when the man hits, wait and endure till he kills then he will be forgiven or wait till he’s probably falls asleep then strike. Abi?”, she wrote.
This is coming just few months after she praised her husband and said she was studying Psychology and Drama in preparation to relocate to Nigeria.
