Lausanne, Oct 18, 2016 – The International Olympic Committee (IOC) has sanctioned two athletes for testing positive to performance enhancing drugs at the Olympic Games London 2012.

The athletes are Apti Aukhadov(23) who represented Russia at the affected game while Maksym MAZURYK, (33), represented Ukraine during the fiesta. Aukhadov competed in Men’s 85 kg weightlifting event, ranked second and was awarded the silver medal.

The IOC Disciplinary Commission, composed for this case of Denis Oswald (Chairman), Juan Antonio Samaranch and Ugur Erdener, found him guilty anti-doping rule due violation pursuant to the IOC Anti-Doping Rules applicable to the Games of the XXX Olympiad in London in 2012 (presence, and/or use, of a Prohibited Substance or its Metabolites or Markers in an athlete’s bodily specimen) and consequently disqualified him from the event in which he participated upon the occasion of the Olympic Games London 2012, namely the Men’s 85 kg.

The IWF is requested to modify the results of the above-mentioned event accordingly and to consider any further action within its own competence.

The Russian Olympic Committee shall in particular secure the return to the IOC, as soon as possible, of the medal, the medalist pin and the diploma awarded in connection with the Men’s 85 kg weightlifting event to the Athlete.

“Re-analysis of Mazuryk’s samples from London 2012 resulted in a positive test for the prohibited substance dehydrochlormethyltestosterone (turinabol)”, the IOC said and found him to have committed an anti-doping rule violation.

The IAAF is requested to modify the results of the above-mentioned event accordingly and to consider any further action within its own competence. The Ukrainian Olympic Committee shall ensure full implementation of this decision.
