Nigeria, Oct 6, 2016 – Bayelsa State Governor, Mr. Henry Seriake Dickson, said that a percentage of teaching employment in the State has been reserved for members of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) serving in the state.
DICKSON OFFERS TEACHING APPOINTMENTS TO CORP MEMBERS
Dickson,p made the disclosure Wednesday, during a jogging exercise with Corps members at the Isaac Boro Peace Park in Yenagoa.He directed the State NYSC Coordinator, Ekeocha Anthony to shortlist corps members interested in taking up teaching appointment in schools.
Describing the NYSC members, as the most important Nigerians, he noted that, they represent the future of the country and he enjoined corps members, who served in Bayelsa to be good ambassadors of the state.
Dickson said, “I want to commend corpers in the state for the hard work and dedication they have shown during their service years, as reports available to me show that, corpers serving in the state are well behaved and productive.
“I enjoin members of the NYSC to be good ambassadors of Bayelsa, wherever you go. Corps members, who are interested in teaching should submit their details with the state coordinator for employment as the government has invested massively in education that will require employment of teaching staff.”
The Governor also directed the state coordinator of the NYSC Scheme to liaise with the Ministry of Sports to stage a monthly jogging exercise for officials of the government and the corps members.
In his remarks, Secretary to the State Government, Chief Serena Dokubo-Spiff, urged corps members to take the good message of Bayelsa to their respective homes, adding that, the state is willing to do everything within available resources to fully integrate them into the state.
Dokubo-Spiff, who is also the State Chairman of the governing board of the NYSC, congratulated the corps members for the successful completion of their service year, pointing out that, the government has invested massively in education, agriculture and infrastructure.
The State coordinator of the NYSC, Mr. Ekeocha Anthony disclosed that a total of 6,000 corps members, were currently serving in the state, made up of batch 2; string 1 and 2, that will soon pass out.
