Nigeria, August 22, 2016 – The Speaker of the Ekiti State House of Assembly, Right Honourable (Pastor) Kola Oluwawole, has described the commitment of the state governor, Mr Peter Ayodele Fayose, to cultural development and exploitation of the tourism potentials of the state as legendary.

He also described the reign of the Ewi of Ado-Ekiti, Oba (Dr) Rufus Adejugbe, as that which witnessed unprecedented development of the state capital, particularly, the promotion of the annual Udiroko festival for which the state is now getting more notable on world’s tourism map.

These eulogies were contained in a congratulatory message sent to the monarch and the governor on the celebration of the Udiroko Day 2016, a week-long cultural/tourism festival that climaxes on Tuesday, 23 August.

According to the message signed by the Speaker’s Special Assistant (Media), Stephen Gbadamosi, “Governor Fayose has displayed uncommon commitment to the development of the diverse cultures of the Ekiti people, as well as the enormous tourism potentials of the state. The Udiroko festival is a very apt instance.

“The governor has invested a lot in the promotion of our cultural heritage. And that is why the Udiroko festival has now become one that corporate organizations are taking serious interest in and people all over the world look forward to. That, to me, is worthy of applause. Besides, the Ewi of Ado-Ekiti, Oba (Dr) Rufus Adejugbe’s tenure has witnessed remarkable development, not only in the celebration of the annual festival, but also in the overall development of the state capital.

“It is on that note that I, on behalf of myself and the entire members of the Ekiti State House of Assembly, felicitate with His Royal Majesty, the Ewi of Ado-Ekiti, Oba (Dr) Rufus Adejugbe, and the entire sons and daughters of Ado on the celebration of Udiroko Festival 2016. I also congratulate the Eyesorun, other oloris and all the chiefs of the monarch for witnessing yet another edition of the cultural fiesta. May our monarch celebrate many more of it on the throne in good health.”
