Borno, August 9, 2016 – The Nigerian Government has finally obtained the right of way to enable it pass cable through some communities for supply of power.
This was part of the communiqué issued at the 8th monthly meeting of the Minister of Power, Works and Housing, Mr. Babatunde Fashola with relevant stakeholders in the sector at Baga Transmission Centre in Maiduguri, Borno State.

Inability of government to obtain right of way in Calabar, Akwa Ibom State due to issues relating to shrine had hampered progress of power in the region.
In the communique’ , it was observed that the right of ways issues being experienced by the Niger Delta Power Holding Company(NDPHC) along Itu-Calabar axis have now been resolved.
Stakeholders at the meeting encouraged governments to assist in improving energy supply by helping to conduct energy audits of their residents needs to be submitted through a template which would be designed for onward circulation and guidance.
It also encouraged governments to educate residents about conservation of energy by switching off bulbs and appliances that are not in use.
The meeting which focused on identifying, discussing and finding practical solutions to critical issues facing the Nigerian Electricity Supply Industry was hosted by Yola Electricity Distribution Company.
It emphasized the need for operators of the industry especially the distribution companies to improve their operations and in particular their collections, by reducing losses, supplying meters and improving customer relations.
