Nigeria, August 14, 2016 – Not less than five person have been confirmed dead in an accident on the Third Mainland Bridge, Lagos.
The accident according to the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA) occurred at 6:10 PM today inward Iyana Oworo by the UNILAG Waterfront on the bridge.

“It involved 3 vehicles which includes a LAG Bus, Hilux truck belonging to a local vigilante group and a Rover jeep”, General Manager, LASEMA, Mr. Michael Akindele said in a statement this evening.
According to him, the five persons confirmed dead were three female adults and two children, one female and one male.
He added that five persons were also injured and were taken by LASAMBUS to the Truama Centre at the old Lagos Toll Gate.
He said that agencies involved in the rescue operation were the Lagos State Traffic Management Agency (LASTMA), Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), and members of the Rapid Response Squad (RRS).
He said LASEMA Response Team recovered the damaged vehicles, while the dead bodies have been taken by SEHMU to Mainland Hospital Mortuary.
Akindele said proper investigation would be carried out on the cause of the accident by the relevant government agencies, but advised motorists to prevent over speeding and also adhere to all traffic rules and regulation to avoid incident of this nature.
