Lagos, Nigeria, June 24, 2016 – The baton of leadership of the Rotary Club of Omole Golden changed hands on Friday as the incoming President for the 2016/2017 Rotary Year, Rotarian Mrs Titilayo Sunmonu was decorated as the 13th President of the club.
Sunmonu is the first female President of the club which got its charter certificate on June 4, 2004.
The handing over ceremony was performed by the council of the club’s past presidents led by its Charter President Mr Olutimi Adeleye, Barrister Michael Akamo and Prince Aderemi Ajose, among others.
At the brief event, the immediate past president Mr Idowu Afelogun charged the new President to continue forge unity and build a synergy in the club.
He said: “A lot would be achieved if you carry out the affairs of the club without fear or favour, especially if you do not have favourites among members.”
Sunmonu in her remarks thanked all members of the club, particularly all former Presidents for the privilege to lead the club.
She said as the first woman to occupy the exalted office, she would do everything to make the womanhood proud.
She assured that her tenure would do nothing to undermine the height to which the club has attained in the last 12 years. Sunmonu who said she is irrevocably committed to serving humanity therefore urged all members, as well as other philanthropic individuals and organisations to join her in the onerous task of serving to improve the cause of the less privileged.
