Nigeria, June 26, 2016 – In an effort to woo investors and corporate organisations back to the Lagos Island Central Business District (CBD), the Lagos State Government will on Tuesday, June 28, hold an interactive stakeholders’ forum.
AMBODE WOOS INVESTORS TO LAGOS ISLAND
Special Adviser to the Governor on CBD, Hon. Agboola Dabiri in a statement on Sunday said that aside wooing investors, the one-day forum initiated by Governor Akinwunmi Ambode, would elaborate on the vistas of opportunity in the CBD and the need for them to turn challenges therein to opportunities in line with the onerous desire of government to revitalize and return the lost glory and beauty of the Lagos Island of the 80s and 90s.
The Special Adviser who said that the forum would hold at the City Hall, Lagos Island, is also in line with Government’s quest to turn around the fortunes of the Agency around through effective Public-Private Sector partnership.
According to him, a formidable and virile synergy with the private sector has the greatest potential to spur provision of social amenities for the benefit of the entire citizenry even as government is poised to tap all available opportunities needed to push CBD to the next level for the attainment of the desired international standard.
Speaking further on the event, Agboola listed other issues to be discussed at the forum to include waste management, transportation and security.
He said the availability of ready markets in the face of huge population, constant electricity, cheap labour, serene environment and other enormous opportunities for businesses to thrive abound in Lagos Island CBD, pointing out that the return of corporate organizations will indeed accelerate the vivid realization of government policy.
“Governor Ambode has done so well to improve traffic through removal of impediments to free flow human and vehicular movement”, and has assured that necessary logistics and wherewithal will always be put in place to encourage the return of corporate organizations whose contributions and support are very vital to any manner of revitalization and development envisaged for CBD,” he said.
Dabiri, explained that the State Government’s target for the Agency is a “21st Century CBD and the coming of the blue rail which will be launched before the end of the year will indeed provide an enormous opportunity that will further open up Lagos Island CBD for more businesses and consequently change the face of the axis for the better’’.
On her part, the Coordinator of the event and Assistant Director, Administration and Human Resources of the Agency, Miss Abiodun Olayinmika Macgregor, said the forum is targeted at business moguls, CEOs, Captains of industries and other well-meaning philanthropists all over Nigeria and the international sectors who are in the vanguard of giving back to the society, especially where they operate.
