Syria, May 23, 2016 – Not less than 100 people have been killed and several others injured when suicide bombers detonated explosions at a bus station in the port city of Tartous and Jableh, Syria.

So far, no group has accepted responsibility for the explosions but the local media have attributed the attack to fighters of the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria(ISIS).

We gathered that the target was a gathering of Alawites. President Bashar al-Assad of Syria is alleged to be a member of the sect.

SANA, the state’s news cited a police source as saying that 45 people were killed and many others, most of them women and children, were injured in Jableh.

“In Tartous, more than 33 people were killed and 47 others injured’’, SANA said, adding that a car bomb was detonated at the main gate to the city’s bus station, while a suicide bomber detonated an explosive vest inside the facility, it added.

The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights has reported that 53 people were killed in Jableh and another 48 in Tartous.
