Nigeria, April 12, 2016 – Twenty Nigerian girls have departed Nigerian shores for China where they will undergo ICT training.

They were part of the Ministry of Communication’s “1000 Girls ICT Training Programme and will spend two weeks at the headquarters of Huawei Technologies in Beijing, China.
The twenty girls who are graduates of various disciplines from Nigerian universities emerged as the best participants of the “1000 Girls ICT Programme”.
The training is designed to further improve their knowledge of ICT and launch them into the emerging ICT industry in Nigeria.
While addressing the girls in his office, the Minister of Communications, Barr. Adebayo Shittu congratulated them for their wonderful performance in the Ministry’s ICT programme for Nigerian girls.
He hoped that the China training would equip them for full participation in the nation’s emerging ICT industry and urged them to take advantage of the training to prepare for higher degrees in the field.
While thanking Huawei Technologies for partnering with the Ministry to provide the capacity building programme for the Nigerian girls, he urged the girls to serve as good ambassadors of the country.
He warned them against any behavior that would tarnish the image of the country and promised them a bright future at the end of the programme.
Miss Koretimi Oluwakemi, on behalf of the girls, thanked the Ministry and Huawei Technologies for creating the opportunity for them to participate in the “1000 Girls ICT Programme”.
She promised that they would approach the training programme with seriousness and also assured the minister that they would represent the country well.
