New York, March 7, 2016 – A Ghanaian Woman, named Rose Amanor is now cooling her head in a US jail for smuggling three kilograms of hard drugs into the United States.

The woman, 64, who stuffed the dry Tilapia fishes with wraps of heroin has been sentenced to 27 months jail in New York.
Daily News, New York, reported that Amanor was arrested at the JF Kennedy Airport after disembarking on a flight from Amsterdam in 2015.

Search by security operatives according to the newspaper showed she was travelling with three kilograms of heroin stuffed inside a haul of dry fish.

She however said she was ignorant of the content of the bag and attributed the deed to the handiwork of her son.
Ruling in her case, Justice Eric Vitaliano said he was not convinced by her plea for mercy on account of old age, noting that she was fond of ‘incessant number of fishy stories’

“I find it totally incredible that Mrs. Amanor didn’t know what it was that she was doing. It certainly was a disrespect for the law, sitting in this courtroom and spinning this incredible tale under oath,” the judge noted, adding that the drugs would have wreaked young people if they were not intercepted.
