Speaking at his bedside, Rt. Hon Obasa commended Bolaji’s courage and desire to live despite being hit by stray bullets.
“When I read your story, I was moved by your courage. It was through sheer courage that after being hit by stray bullets and your intestines spill out, you still had the courage to pack your intestines and run to the police station. I’m really moved,” Obasa said.
While praying for the speedy recovery of the brave boy, the Lagos Assembly Speaker later donated N500,000 for the upkeep of the teenager.
The victim’s mother, Mrs. Alero Kalejaiye, commended the Lagos Assembly Speaker and members of his entourage. She has sought for more assistance from Nigerians as the battle to save her son’s life goes on at the hospital.
“I’m impressed by your good gesture and Almighty God will continue to bless you. However, I still want to appeal to Nigerians to come to our aid as we battle to save the life of my son,” she said.
Kalejaiye was hit by stray bullets during the crisis while returning from where he had gone to write his university entrance examination.
He packed his gushed out intestines and ran to a police station where he was sent back by the police at the station. He was however rescued and taken to a private hospital by passers-by from where he was transferred to the Ikeja General Hospital.
