US, March 2, 2016 – Unless there is a major upset, the two likely candidate that will slug it out in November for President of the United States of America will be Donald J Trump for the Republican Party and Hilary Clinton for the Democratic Party.
HILARY CLINTON, DONALD TRUMP, LIKELY CANDIDATES FOR US PRESIDENT
These two candidates have proved to be no match for other candidates in each of the political parties.
Donald Trump came into the race as a celebrity and business mogul. Despite his controversial statements on Mexico and blacks with criticism from Pope Benedict XVI, there seems to be no end to his steady rise, winning endorsements more than any candidate in his party.
Even prior to ‘Super Tuesday’, independent polls put him ahead of other candidates in his party with as much as 40 percent margin and results that have so far emerged did not belie all the surveys put together.
He won seven states convincingly, leaving just three states to his closest rival, Ted Cruz, who is hoping to create an upset if other candidates in the race team up with him. Marco Rubio won just one state.
Trump won across the conservative South in Alabama, Arkansas, Georgia, Tennessee and Virginia, but also captured more moderate Massachusetts and Vermont.
From the results so far, Trump got 316 delegates, Cruz 226 while Rubio got just 106.
Hilary Clinton, former Secretary of State who also contested primaries with President Barrack Obama seven years ago, led the Democratic Party, wining 7 states.
They are Alabama, Georgia, Tennessee, Virginia, Arkansas, Texas and Massachusetts. She was able to get 1,034 delegates to her side while her closest rival, Sanders, got just 408 delegates.
He strength seems to be in the black voters who dread a Donald Trump Presidency based on his utterance on immigration, especially blacks.
