TRAFFIC GRIDLOCK AS FIRE CONSUMES TANKER IN LAGOS

January 16, 2016 – There was mild confusion on Saturday morning when fire consumed an empty tanker on the Lagos Ibadan Express way.
The tanker which was approaching the Lagos State Secretariat from Mower axis burst into flames almost opposite Mobile Petrol Station.
But just before leaving, our correspondent sighted men of the Lagos State Fire Service rushing to the scene with fire truck to contain the inferno.
But on ground was an official of the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority(LASTMA) diverting traffic away from the scene.
But by 9am the fire has been put off but the incident has resulted in heavy traffic on the expressway spilling backward as far as OPIC, that is before Berger on the way to Lagos.
The driver who was visibly disturbed by the incident could not tell the cause of the fire. All he told our correspondent was that the tanker was empty.
