Olisa Metuh been led to court by prison om wardens from Kuje Prison




January 19, 2016 – Spokesman of the Peoples Democratic Party(PDP), Nigeria’s main opposition party, Chief Olisa Metuh has been granted bail.

He has been in the custody of Nigeria’s anti-graft agency, Economic and Financial Crimes Commission(EFCC) in the last two weeks, following his prosecution by the commission for allegedly transferring the sum of one million dollars through his agent, Nneka Nicole Ararume, to one Sie Iyenome of Capital Field Investment committing, an offense contrary to Section One of the Money Laundering Act and receiving N400 million from the office of the former National Security Adviser, Colonel Sambo Dasuki, without a contract.

Ruling on the bail application, Justice Obong Abang of the Federal High Court in Abuja ordered him to pay N400 million and provide two sureties that must provide N200 million each as bail bond.

The court said both sureties must be resident in Abuja and should swear an affidavit of means with two passport photographs.

He also ordered the Chief Registrar of the court to ascertain the documents of the said properties and ensure that they belong to the sureties.Metuh was also ordered to deposit his travel document with the court.
