December 15, 2015 – Telecommunication giant, Airtel Nigeria Ltd, has pledged to supply 50 wireless table set phones to the Lagos State Police Command to assist the force in information gathering and to tackle crime.

Commissioner of Police, Lagos State, Mr. Fatai Owoseni who made the revelation at the 9th annual Lagos State Security Summit said the Managing Director of Airtel Nigeria, Mr. Segun Ogunsanya has assured him that the phones will soon be delivered to the Lagos Police.
He said that the phones will be distributed to District Police Officers(DPO) while the numbers will be published to enable members of the public exchange information with relevant DPOs.
Owoseni said the command engaged in internal oversight of professional conduct and discipline of officers to eradicate extra-Judicial killings as well as conform with extant rules and regulations.
In the course of the year, Owoseni said three hundred and seventy-five armed robbery suspects were arrested out of which forty-two were suspected traffic robbers.
Also, four thousand, seven hundred and eighty-nine motorcycles, popular known as okada were impounded for operating on prohibited routes, while raids of criminal hideouts by the Police and other Security agencies led to the arrest of five thousand, seven hundred and twenty one suspects.
Owoseni commended Lagos State government for the initiative of the Lagos State Security Trust Fund and Governor Ambode for recently donating security equipment worth N4.7 billion to enhance security Operations in the state.
