November 21, 2015 – It is becoming old fashion among policemen for suspects to be interrogated in regular police stations. This days, it is becoming a routine for policemen to take suspects, who are neither terrorists nor armed robbers to unidentified area outside the police station for interrogation and torture.
One of such chamber has has been discovered in Abuja, the Nigeria Federal Capital Territory. The house is located at No 2 Ogo Aro Close Garki II, Abuja, a stone throw from the Nigeria Police command.
Our investigation revealed that one Afini Mustapha an indigenes of Badagary in Lagos, although resident in Masaka area of Nasarawa State was invited via a telephone to report at FCT Police command in Garki for interrogation based on the recent fire outbreak in Grand Square Super Mall.
Mustapha’s Ace Security outfit was in charge of security of grand square several years back before the contract was terminated.As if he knew what is going to happened, he asked a friend to accompany him. Getting to the command, he was re-directed to come to No 2 Ogo Aro Close. While narrating his ordeal with the police, Mustapha’s friend (name withheld) said, “When we got to No 2 Ogo Aro Close, we met four men in mufti with police branded vehicle already waiting for us at the gate of the building, around 12.03pm.
“Mustapha was dragged inside without proper identification from the police men and he was held up for almost three hours while I was ordered to wait at the gate with one of the police on standby monitoring me. Later, Mustapha came out with these suspected policemen from the building and he was asked to park his car inside the compound properly and was dragged inside the waiting police pickup up van, he managed to tell me he was being taken to Lagos and that I should contact his lawyer and brief him on the latest development.
When our reporter visited the scene, the car was sited neatly parked inside the building, All effort to get clarification from the FCT Police Command PRO , State Command on the incident and this secret interrogation house was unsuccessful. None of the police interviewed claimed having knowledge of the torture chamber.
But our reporter reliably gathered that Mustapha was arrested, interrogated and detained at No. 2 Oko Aro Close Garki II, Abuja instead of Police command that is a few meters from the undisclosed hideout house before he was finally taken to Alagbon in Lagos.
When contacted his wife and his lawyer, both of them confirmed the incident and that Mustapha’s phone has since been switched off. All effort by our reporter to also get him both on phone and at Alagbon also proved abortive.
Meanwhile, Mustapha’s wifea is in serious pain not knowing the where about of her husband. She lamented how policemen in mufti could arrest a suspect without proper identification.
“ I even started doubting them if not that his friend told me that my husband was shattered away in a police branded vehicle I would have taught they were either kidnappers or ritualists. Please help me find my husband, my husband must not die” she concluded.
As at the time of filling this report nobody knows the whereabouts of Mustapha Afini, all efforts to get him on phone proved abortive.
