November 4, 2015 – The Lagos State Governor, Mr. Akinwunmi Ambode and Commissioner of Police, Mr. Fatai Owoseni came under severe criticism this morning following an incident of robbery near the Musical Society of Nigeria (MUSON), Lagos when robbers smashed the windscreen of an unidentified driver and took away her phones and neck chain.
The lady in question was said have kept her handbag in the booth following stories of theft in Lagos traffic. But many who read the story used the opportunity to descend on the governor of Lagos State berating him for insecurity in the state.
Some of those who commented online choose to hide their identity.
“Dear Lagos Govt, we can’t live in perpetual fear while driving around in our city. Makes no sense. Can these menace be cleared from our roads? We need a permanent solution”, one of them said.
“I think Ambode government is a complete disappointment. I personally regretted campaigning and voted for him. He needs to brace up to the task at hand”, another said.
But for Tolulope Omoniyi God is the only security we have in Nigeria, this need to stop. “It is becoming a bad trend and this is bad for you, your excellency”, she said.
Irabor Bobbi simply said “This is getting out of hand, where is the police in Lagos state”
But another person who choose to remain anonymous said, “ If this was happening in PDP states that liar mohammed and his APC hypocrites would have released a press statement to discredit the state government. Now that the insecurity is in APC states those hypocrites won’t complain. Maybe the insecurity is happening because of Jonathan’s visit. Ambode is a boring governor”, he said.
“Na wa o! Dis one has become a daily occurrence. God help us”, another said without giving his name.
“ Hang on….weren’t Governor Ambode and his team conducting an early morning Patrol of the areas around Muson, this morning??”, another queried?
“The hideout of these boys is just opposite the lasg Government house marina at the waterfront. The green Building and toilets in the area. Get them arrested. Simple. We all see them loitering there in the morning”, another said.
But Jesica Chidinma wondered why it is taking so long for the governor to act. “ I don’t understand why Gov. Ambode is taking so long to curb this menace, it’s very painful to be robbed of your property. Also am still waiting to see his achievements so far, Fashola didn’t take this long to start producing results”, she said.
“This situation has gotten out of hand, Lagosians should be allowed to carry arms for self defence, the hoodlums have sensed the existence of a very weak leadership in the state and are taking full advantage of the situation, we cannot continue like this, this is a situation of anomie and personal weapons is the way to go”, another anonymous person said.
