LAGOS HOLDS NOVEMBER 2015 SANITATION ON SATURDAY
November 27, 2015 – The Lagos State Government has said that the monthly environmental sanitation exercise scheduled for November will hold on Saturday, November 28, 2015.
In a statement, Commissioner for the Environment, Dr. Babatunde Adejare said there will be a restriction of human and vehicular activities across the state between the hours of 7:00am-10:00am.
He urged residents to troop out in large numbers and participate actively in the sanitation exercise by cleaning their homes, gutters, drains as well as their frontages, emphasizing that the period of environmental sanitation is not meant for any social engagement or a game of football but for a serious cleaning exercise.
The Commissioner advised residents of the State to desist from dumping waste arbitrarily into the drainage channels and canals in order to attain a flood-free Lagos. He also warned residents who still patronize cart pushers to desist, adding that it remains an illegal act.
Adejare warned inter-state bus operators, luxury bus operators, transport owners and road transport workers to comply with restriction order on human and vehicular movement between 7.00am-10.00am, warning that anyone caught violating this order will be apprehended and prosecuted, while passengers in such vehicles will also be prosecuted according to the State Environmental Sanitation Laws.
