November 26, 2015 – The French Government has agreed to work with Nigeria to fight insurgenc in Nigeria.

French Director of Military Intelligence, Lieutenant General Christophe Gomart gave the assurance when he paid a courtesy call on Chief of Defence Staff, General Gabriel Olonisakin at the Defence Headquarters, Abuja.

While explaining the purpose of the visit, Gomart said it would enable the two nations share intelligence and knowledge about terrorist and also reinforce the defence cooperation between intelligence agencies from both countries.

In his response, Defence Chief of Policy and Plans, Air Vice Marshal Anthony Omeiza who represented the CDS noted that the visit would not only cement the existing relationship between the two nations, but would also encourage intelligence discussion and information sharing on ways to tackle security challenges.

He solicited the French Government’s support in the current fight against insurgency.
