October 12, 2015 – Mrs. Nkechi Isioko has been arrested by the Nigerian Security and Civil Defense Corps, (NSCDC) in the process of selling her baby for N100,000 in Enugu State.
Nkechi, we gathered had already sold the babdy and collected the sum of N100, 000 from one Mrs. Blessing Egbo before officials of the NSCDC arrested her and the buyer.
During interogation, Mrs. Egbo said she initially gave Isioko part payment of N10,000 to Isioko before giving her the balance of N90,000 and advised not to sell the baby.
The Chairman of the Committee on Child Adoption and Fostering in Enugu State and Archbishop of the Anglican Communion, Enugu Province, Most Reverend Emmanuel Chukwuma, has advised human traffickers to find legitimate businesses, warning that his command was committed to stopping their illegal business.
He said that Enugu State would not be a place of refuge for human traffickers and prostitutes.
