October 06, 2015 – The Olumide Oyedeji Foundation, in collaboration with the by Lagos State Sports Commission, Super Sports and Honeywell, is organising a one week intercollegiate basketball tournament at the Indoor Sports Hall of Molade Okoya-Thomas Hall, Teslim Balogun Stadium, Surulere.
According to Coordinator of the tournament, Abiola Shomala, the tournament, which is an initiative of Olumide Oyedeji, Captain of Nigeria’s Basketball team, is aimed at giving back to the society through such gesture.
Participants, who were drawn from eight semi-finalists at the Nigerian Universities Games (NUGA), include Ahmadu Bello University; Federal University of Technology, Mina; University of Lagos, Akoka; Federal Polytechnic, Ede; Yaba College of Technology, Lagos; Niger State College of Education and Lagos State Polytechnic.
The Overall winner of the tournament will go home with a Giant Trophy, while 2nd and 3rd positions would receive Medals. The Most Valuable Player (MVP) will be given Scholarship Award while the Best Behaved Team and Fair play Teams will receive trophies.
Members of the public, especially those living within the Surulere suburb, are therefore invited to watch these matches free.
The tournament is to hold between Monday, October 5 and end on Saturday October 10, 2015.
