Murder of Disu, LFTZ Boss: Court remands Bale, 16 others in custody
October 13, 2015 – An Ebute Metta Magistrate Court on Tuesday gave an order that 17 persons including an elderly Bale(ruler) arrested in connection with the murder of Managing Director of Lekki Free Trade Zone, Alhaji Tajudeen Disu.
Disu was killed on Monday morning while addressing restive members of the host communities in the LFTZ . We gathered that Disu who attending the meeting against security advice was greeted with bullets the moment he stood in front of the restive crowd to address their grievance.
LFTZ is located on 16, 500 hectares of land acquired from the host communities, with compensation paid to the communities by the state government.
The court ordered that the seventeen suspects held in connection with the killing Disu be remanded in custody for 30 days pending investigation by the Nigeria Police Force.
Chief Magistrate of the Court, Folashade Botoku, said the suspects should be remanded at the State Criminal Investigation Intelligence Department, Panti, Yaba for the next 30 days and to appeared before the court on November 16, 2015.
A policeman was also killed along with the LFTZ boss while many others were injured, the court was told.
