October 14, 2015 – The Senate will resume the screening of ministerial nominees today with the Group Managing Director of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC), Dr. Ibe Kachikwu, the distinguished alumnus of the University of Nigeria (UNN) and Harvard University, tipped to be the star attraction.

Kachikwu is appearing on the same day controversial nominees like, the former Rivers State Governor, Rotimi Amaechi and former Lagos State Governor, Babatunde Raji Fashola are to be screened.

The senate successfully screened and approved 10 nominees from the first list on Tuesday leaving the remainder 11 for Wednesday.

A professional to the core, and coming with an intimidating educational and professional resume, Kachikwu is expected to take the lawmakers through the complex nature of the oil sector. Some senators do say they are actually looking forward to a lecture on the complex oil and gas sector from Dr. Kachikwu, who was a Vice President at ExxonMobil before his appointment as GMD of the NNPC.

He, not being a politician, his screening will be closely monitored by investors who are itching to get a clear picture of the Buhari Administration’s policy for the oil sector.

Kachikwu promises to be a star attraction at the screening exercise because his appointment is seen as one of the most inspiring President Muhammadu Buhari has made so far.
