He also congratulated the newly elected NUJ Chairman, Mr. John Angese, for emerging victorious and urged him to use his office to promote and propagate the ideals of the journalism profession, as the watchdog of society.
A statement by the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Daniel Iworiso-Markson, congratulated other officers of the new executive, saying they have a responsibility to work as a team to take the NUJ in the State to new heights and uphold the core principles of the profession at all times.
Dickson called for a robust collaboration and working relationship between the Government and the NUJ at all times, especially in the area of adequate dissemination of the government policies and programmes and the building of a peaceful, secure and a well informed and enlightened Bayelsa society.
He also commended the losers for their spirit of sportsmanship, saying that, they have carved a niche for themselves as journalists, whose ambitions were driven by the over all progress of the union and not by parochial and selfish motives.
