September 26, 2015 – Barcelona striker, Lionel Messi today suffered a torn knee ligament in an encounter between his side and Las Palmas.
Barcelona won the match 2-1 but medical test has revealed the Argentine striker will be out of action in he next eight weeks
“Tests have confirmed that Leo Messi suffered a torn internal collateral knee ligament. The estimated time out will be seven to eight weeks,” Barcelona said in a statement.
Messi, 28, is likely to be on the sideline based on result of the test when his home country Argentina kicks off qualifier for 2018 FIFA World
Messi clashed with Las Palmas’s defender Pedro Bigas and inured his left knee in the process. He briefly returned to the field after receiving treatment, but was was unfit and was replaced by Munir El Haddadi.
