Lagos cancels September environmental sanitation exercise

September 25, 2015 – Lagos State Government has said that there will be no restriction in human and vehicular movement during the September, 26 edition of the monthly environmental sanitation exercise to allow for an hitch-free Eid-Il-Kabir celebration.

Permanent Secretary,Ministry of the Environment,Mr Oluwatoyin Onisarotu advised Lagosians to celebrate in moderation and that they should use the opportunity of the festive period to clean their environment and properly bag their wastes to allow for easy collection and disposal to designated dumpsites by LAWMA and PSP Operators.

He therefore urged all and sundry to join the state crusade to attain a cleaner,healthier and sustainable environment,capable of promoting economic growth and well-being of the entire citizenry.

The Permanent Secretary further implored residents to desist from dumping waste indiscriminately into canals and drainages as the rainy season is not yet over.
