Ambode sacks Babatunde Edu, LASTMA GM
September 4, 2015 – Lagos State Governor, Mr. Akinwunmi Ambode has terminated the appointement of Mr. Babatunde Edu, General Manager of the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority, (LASTMA).
He has since been replaced with Mr. Bashir Ademuyiwa Braimoh.
The sack of Edu came just a day after the Governor directed LASTMA to release all seized vehicles in their various yards in the state back to their owners.
He also directed officials of the agency to desist from arresting and impounding vehicles but tocultivate the habit of booking offenders and sending the bills to their homes.
Permanent Secretary in the state Ministry of Transportation, Oluseyi Whenu urged residents to reciprocate government’s gesture by obeying all traffic laws and regulations.
He said this was in a bid to ensure free flow of traffic in Lagos State.
He noted that while government appreciates the invaluable contribution of LASTMA officials to the current traffic situation in the State, more emphasis should be placed on free flow of traffic and less on arrests of offenders.
