Lagos begins orientation for prilgrims

Muslims performing Hajj in Mecca

August 5, 2015 – The Lagos State Government has assured intending pilgrims in the State of a hitch-free holy pilgrimage to Mecca and Medina.

Dr. Abdul Hakeem Abdul-Lateef, the Amirul-Hajj and Chairman of the Year 2015 Hajj exercise stated this at the commencement of the orientation programme organised for intending pilgrims in Lagos by the State Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board.

He reiterated the State Government’s commitment, through the Board, to a successful 2015 exercise, saying that all necessary measures have been put in place towards achieving a fruitful and rewarding Hajj.

According to him, “the orientation programme was organized for the intending pilgrims in order to educate them on the requirements for performing exercise and also highlight the guiding rules for pilgrims in the holy land”.

While delivering Governor Ambode’s goodwill message to the intending pilgrims, Dr. Abdul-Lateef disclosed that part of the welfare package by the government include free meal, clothing, payment for Hadiyah ram and comfortable accommodation in Mecca and Medina.

He therefore enjoined the pilgrims to be good ambassadors and be steadfast in their prayers for Lagos State in particular and Nigeria in general, adding that the orientation programme is on Local government basis.

Among those present at the programme were the year2015 Hajj Adhoc-committee members, including Prof. Abdul-Lateef Adetona, Dr. Abdul-Kabir Paramole, Dr. Nosirudeen Onibon, Dr. Jinadu Noah, Alhaji AbdulGanyy Opeloyeru, Alhaji Abdul-Hameed Danmole, Alhaja Lutifat Adewole, Alhaja Risikat Ogunbunmi, Alhaja Fatimat Gawat and Alhaji Abdul Ganiyu Sopeyin.

The orientation, which commenced on Monday, August 3, is holding at the State Secretariat Mosque, Alausa, Ikeja and would end on Thursday, August 6.
