July 24, 2015 – Speaker of Ekiti State House of Assembly, Hon. Kola Oluwawole, has charged members of the Conference of Nigerian Political Parties (CNPP) to support the Executive Governor of the state, Mr Ayo Fayose, in his efforts to liberate the state and move it forward.

He made the call while receiving executive members of the conference in the parliamentary room of the State House of Assembly on Friday.

According to a statement issued on Friday by the Special Assistant (Media) to the Speaker, Stephen Gbadamosi, Oluwawole, who was represented by the House Leader of Business, Honourable Akinyele Olatunji, noted that political parties needed to be united and support the incumbent governor in moving the state forward.

“Thus, all political parties should get their acts together and participate in the forthcoming local government elections. Let us all be vigilant and conscious of happening in our society,” the lawmaker advised.

Earlier in his address, chairman of Ekiti State chapter of the CNPP, Mr Tunji Ogunlola, said apart from the fact that the visit was embarked upon to congratulate members of the House, the CNPP team came because the body could not close its eyes to the political developments in the state.

“Since everybody is a political animal and part of government, we, members of the CNPP in Ekiti State, cannot fold our arms or close our eyes to steps being taken by government. This is with a view to ensuring that Ekiti attains a greater height.
“I wish to, hereby, appeal to all arms of government in the state to see the CNPP as lovers of progress and not destroyers or antagonists.

“I equally wish to use this forum to implore the legislative arm to give adequate support to the executive arm of government to enable the present administration achieve its developmental aims and objectives, more so that the state government is making efforts to conduct local government elections,” he said, appealing to the government to carry along the opposition parties in “its activities lined up to lift the state.”
