Ambode sacks Hussain, LASPEC DG

July 24, 2015 –  Lagos State Government today announced the sack of Director General of the Lagos State Pension Commission (LASPEC), Mr. Rotimi Adekunle Hussain. The government also approved the appointment of Mrs. Folasade Onanuga as new DG of LASPEC

Head of Service, Mrs. Shade Jaji said her appointment takes immediate effect.

Onanuga was until her appointment, the Executive Director, Technical in LASPEC.

A 1983 graduate of the University of Ife (now Obafemi Awolowo University),  she is a Fellow of the Chartered Insurance Institute, London; Fellow, Institute of Chartered Secretaries and Administrators; and fellow, Certified Pension Institute.

She was a former President, Professional Insurance Ladies Association (2006 – 2008) and Co-opted Member, Council of Nigerian Corporation of Registered Insurance Brokers which deliberated with government on the Contributory Pension Scheme introduced in 2004 i.e. the 2004 Pension Reform Act.

With over 25 years management experience, Mrs. Onanuga had worked all her life in the Insurance and Pension sectors of Nigeria’s economy, starting with Glanvill Enthoven Life & Pension Consultant between 1983 and 1989, where she served as Assistant Officer-Superintendent, responsible for Client servicing and marketing of life & pension products.

According to the Head of Service, in approving Onanuga’s appointment, due cognizance was given to her integrity, selfless service and record of impressive performance.

Her words: “I therefore have no doubt that you will bring your wealth of experience to bear on the work of the Commission and continue to justify the confidence reposed in you by His Excellency, the Governor”
