June 3, 2015 – Nigerian Senate today broke record in the history of lawmaking in Nigeria by passing a total of 46 bills in about 10 minutes.
The Senate also approved request from President Muhammadu Buhari to approve 15 special advisers. Buhari did not name those he is appointing as his SAs.
Last week, the President named former Managing Director of Sun Newspaper, Mr. Femi Adesina and former Spokesman for the Professor Yemi Osibanjo/Muhammadu Buhari Campaign Organisation, Alhaji Garba Shehu.
Speedy passage of the bills read on the floor of the Senate by Chairman, Senate Committee on Rules and Business, Senator Enang threw the Senate into a rowdy session.
Senate President David Mark however called on senators not satisfied with the passage of the bills to report on Thursday with their names and signatures for consideration.
The Senate suspended Order 79 (1) of the Senate Standing Orders and deemed all the Bills as having passed first, second and third readings on the floor of the Senate and concurred to same before they were passed.
