June 1, 2015 – Former Governor of Lagos State, Mr. Babatunde Fashola is not happy with reporters who covered his eight years tenure in Lagos.

Though the governor won several awards, including international accolades through robust reportage of the Lagos State Governors’ Press Corps, the governor is of the view that the reporters were not too thorough in their reportage of state events.

The governor who has never in his eight year tenure recognized the media in his list of protocol and even failed to thank the press corps in his last speech at the inauguration of Governor of Lagos State, Mr. Akinwunmi Ambode said the reporters lacked debt in their reportage.

The governor who in his eight year tenure organised only one training session for reporters with honorarium of N3,000 for the two days said the reporters should look at economic importance of projects as well as the quality of materials used in the  project.

According to him, reporting the cost of project is just one side of the coin, adding that in the case of road projects, the reporters should look at quality of pilling, communities linked  as well as other aspects that the project is of benefits to the community.

He pointed out that reporters should look at different side to any story even if the story is syndicated.

Turning to photojournalists, he said that if every other person is taking shuts from the top, they must show their stuff by taking shots from the bottom or a different angle entirely.
