Why I Trekked to Honour Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu
May 15, 2015 – It is a season of trekking, walking long distance in honour of one personality or the other. Suleiman Hashimu started it all by walking from Lagos to Abuja to honour President-elect, General Muhammadu Buhari; then an amputee Ibrahim Musa who embarked on the long walk from Kaduna to Abuja to celebrate the victory of Buhari.
Oladele John Nihi from Kogi state also trekked from Abuja to Otuoke, Bayelsa State to honour President Goodluck Jonathan as hero of democracy.
The music scene was not left out of this human interest story, King of Punk, Charlie Boy also reportedly vowed to ride his power bike from Lagos to China to honour Buhari if he wins. He is yet to redeem his pledge.
But this time, it is Adam Afolabi Ndabaji(28) a tailor, who embarked on the 4-day day trek from Abeokuta, Ogun State to Lagos State in honour of the national leader of the All Progressive Congress(APC), Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, whom he has described as the architect of change in Nigeria.
Ndabaji whose father hails from Niger State is resident in Sabo, Abeokuta, home town of his mother.
“I trekked from Abeokuta to Lagos to honour His Excellency, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu for the role he has played and the support he has given to President-elect, Gen. Muhammadu Buhari. As we are aware there is a young man that trekked from Lagos to Abuja to honour President-elect Buhari and I also trekked from Abeokuta to Lagos to honour Asiwaju Tinubu”, he told our reporter, adding that he embarked on the walk for nothing.
“ I don’t want anything. I just trekked with my leg to honour Tinubu because if he did not support President-elect, there would not have been a change, because Buhari said he will not contest again but Tinubu said, no, Nigerians need you. We also know the many good things he has done and the challenges he has gone through”, Ndabaji said in Lagos.
Explaining his journey, he said, “I Went through Ewekoro LG secretariat and met with their SLG. They also trekked with me to the palace of Olu of Itori who blessed me and I left the palace and continued trekking and by 5:10pm I was in Ifo. I was asked to look for Ifo secretariat but at that time they had closed, I was also given a phone number to call one APC member.
At , ifo, they welcomed me and they took me to hotel where I took my nap. On Tuesday, 6.30AM, I continued trekking accompanied by Hon. Oluomo. They also accompanied on the way and they left midway. I continued trekking from Ifo to Adodo LG where I met with the Chairman, secretary and one other person. Two people accompanied me to tour gate and they went back. when I got to Ojokoro I went to see the Executive Secretary (ES), I was told he was not around and I asked for the information Department, there they encouraged me, took pictures with me and on Tuesday, I continued trekking by 4:20PM, I got to Agege where I lodge in a hotel, I was to lodge in the Seriki house but was not around and continued my journey to Ikeja the following day”, he said.
