May 5, 2015 – Lagos State Government is now set to review newspapers and magazines Law Cap 2 of 2003 for their effective operation in line with international best practice.
Commissioner for Information & Strategy, Mr. Lateef Aderemi Ibirogba made the revelation during the ministerial press briefing in Lagos.
The Commissioner said 80 newspapers and magazines renewed their documents for operation in the state while 36 applied for registration within the last four years.
Ibirogba said that unlike before, the state government has embarked on strategic feedback mechanism through the Strategy Unit of the ministry adding that this had made the working of the government easier as government could know where the shoe pinches the populace more.
In his remarks, Permanent Secretary of the State Television Services, the Mr. Mubashiru Adekunle Ajanaku said his agency did not close its doors for business relationship with any political party but that most of them have the feelings that the station is a mouthpiece of the state government which he said is literally wrong adding that the few who made attempt were really surprised and commended the station.
Ajanaku said in order to improve the signal of the state dedicated Traffic Radio Station, a SHIVELY 6812 B-6 FM ANTENNA and a 400ft Co-Axial Transmission line have been procured to boost reception at Epe, Badagry and Lekki axis of the state describing the station as the pride of the state and its residents.
