Olabisi Salis, PDP Candidate for Lagos East Senatorial District

April 2, 2015 – Candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the  Lagos East Senatorial election   Mrs.  Olabisi Salis has rejected results of last Saturday election that returned candidate of the All Progressive Congress (APC), Senator Gbenga  Asafa as winner.

According to results announced by the INEC’s returning officer, Asafa polled 181,221 votes to defeat  Olabisi Owolabi-Salis, who scored 126,350.

But Salis said the whole process of the election was a charm and that it was manipulated by INEC’s field officers and APC party agents in favor of Ashafa .

According to her ” the result of the elections announced did not by any stretch reflect the expressed  will of the people of the Senatorial District.

“The Senatorial District stood out as an electoral injustice on the people and  I am ready to challenge the result of the election in the senatorial district at the election petition tribunal”, she said.

She urged the Resident Electoral Commissioner, Mr. Akin Orebiyi  not to issue certificate of return to  Senator Olugbemiga Ashafa the APC candidate  declared winner in the election. She called on her member not to be deterred  but to  go ahead to vote for the PDP candidate, Mr. Jimi Agbaje in the governorship election come April 11, 2015 .
