March 1, 2015 – Coach Samson Siasia has ordered his Olympic Team players who featured for their clubs during African club competition matches at the weekend to report to camp in Abuja latest by Monday.
Siasia Orders Olympic Team Back to Camp
The former Super Eagles’ chief was in Warri on Saturday to see Warri Wolves defeat Racing Club Bobo-Dioulasso of Burkina Faso 3-0 and reach the first round of the CAF Confederation Cup competition on 4-0 aggregate.
“I’m happy to be here to see my players do well and also score goals for Warri Wolves,” Siasia began, referring to the duo of Freedom Omofonma and Oghenekaro Etebo who got on the scoresheet alongside Joseph Osadiaye to turn back the Burkinabes.
While commending Warri Wolves for its excellent performance, Siasia promised that he would continue to watch matches on the local scene to monitor his players and also to see others who could fit into his squad.
The Monday deadline also applies to Kano Pillars’ duo Yusuf Mohammed and Christian Obiozor, as well as Enyimba FC’s Kingsley Sokari and Peter Onyekachi, as the U-23 National Team intensifies preparations for the return leg of their 11th All-Africa Games qualifying fixture against Gabon, in Abuja on Saturday, March 7.
Sokari and Onyekachi scored for Enyimba FC in their 3-0 first leg win over Buffles du Borgu of Benin Republic in the CAF Champions League and were also set to feature against the opponents in the return leg in Benin Republic on Sunday.
Obiozor and Mohammed were part of the Pillars’ squad that defeated Al Malakia of South Sudan 3-0 in Kano on Saturday to reach the second round of the CAF Champions League on 5-0 aggregate.
