March 5, 2015 – President Goodluck Jonathan and former Heads of State were conspicuously absent at the 78th birthday celebration of former Head of State, Gen. Olusegun Obasanjo (Retd).

Jonathan was not at the event, neither did he write to congratulate the farmer who has been an avid critic of his administration.
Jonathan and other former heads of state were with former President, Alhaji Shehu Shagari when he marked his birthday recently.
The event which war marked at the President Olusegun Obasanjo Library in Abeokuta was however well attended.
In the gathering was the Ogun State Governor, Senator Ibikunle Amosun, Osun State Governor, Mr. Rauf Aregbesola, former Governor of Lagos State, Senator Bola Ahmed Tinubu and other dignitaries.
Also present was the Chairman Subsidy Reinvestment Empowerment Programme SURE-P, General Martin Luther Agwai.
Speaking at the ceremony Agwai blamed the political class for unnecessarily heating up the polity.
In his reaction, Obasanjo said there is hope and that he optimistic about Nigeria but insisted on the need to tackle poverty.
