January 29, 2015 – Presidential candidate of the All Progressive Congress(APC) General Muhammadu Buhari has pulled out of the presidential debate put together by the Broadcasting Organisation of Nigeria(BON) and members of the organised private sector.

The debate was meant to be broadcast live on all public and private radio and television stations across Nigeria.

But in a statement, Director Communication of the Buhari/Osibanjo Campaign Organisation, Mallam Shehu Garba said Buhari is not averse to presidential debate but that he pulled out because the organisers were government organisations and does not want to associate with broadcasting organisations who have tarnished his image.

He added that there was fundamental error from the outset and that the organizers are wearing the toga of government control and that the composition is made up of mainly agents and allies of the ruling PDP.

He said the General Buhari has been preparing himself for presidential debate but he will exempt himself from debate organised by broadcast stations that have denigrated and maligned his name and those of his family.
