January 5, 2015 – FC Barcelona has sacked its Director of Football, Mr. Andoni Zubizarreta.

In a statement, President FC Barcelona, Mr. Josep Maria Bartomeu thanked Andoni Zubizarreta for his contribution, dedication and professionalism over the last four years in his role at the head of the club’s football area.
Zubizarreta resumed as Director of Football in July 2010 after making more than 300 appearances as Barcelona goalkeeper between 1986 and 1994.

He was also part of the side that claimed the club’s first European Cup in 1992.
