APC political rally in Lagos

January 30, 2015 – Lagos State was completely knocked down on Friday when the All Progressive Congress (APC) held a rally at the Teslim Balogun Stadium, Lagos.

It was a carnival of sort as members of the party waded through the heavy traffic jam from the National Arts Theater down to Iponri, Alaka down to the Teslim Balogun Stadium distributing T-shirts, Face caps, CDs and leaflets.

The ceremony however engendered heavy traffic jam on Funsho Williams Avenue into Teslim Balogun Stadium from Lagos.

Vehicles approaching Teslim Balogun Stadium from Ojota were held in traffic extending beyond Onipanu up to Anthony bus stop, forcing residents to trek long distances.

Commuter buses also took advantage of the situation to hike cost of transportation from Ojuelegba to Ikeja and Ketu respectively. A journey that cost N100 from Barracks to Ikeja and Ketu was inflated by almost 100 percent.

Speaking at the rally, Vice Chairman of APC(South West) Mr. Segun Oni said all APC states will declare two days public holidays for public servants to go out to the local governments to collect their PVC.

The scene was however chaotic as some aggrieved party members stormed the scene and unleashed mayhem. In the process a police officer deployed to the rally broke her arm in the ensuing stampede.
