December 10, 2014 – Office of the Special Adviser to the President on Niger Delta has attributed delay in payment of stipends to beneficiary of the amnesty programme to inability to receive the November and December allocation from the Federal Ministry of Finance.
Amnesty Office Explains Delay In Payment of Stipend to Beneficiaries
In a statement , Head Media and Communication of the agency, Mr. Dan Alabra said the delay is highly regretted adding that the Office of the Special Adviser to the President on Niger Delta has stepped up interface with the Federal Ministry of Finance with a view to achieving the release of funds for the months of November and December 2014.
“Once the funds are released, the Amnesty Office shall promptly commence the payment of the outstanding November 2014 stipends to all beneficiaries.
“The Special Adviser to the President on Niger Delta and Chairman, Presidential Amnesty Programme, Hon. Kingsley Kuku, strongly admonishes all former agitators enlisted in the programme to remain patient, law-abiding and be of good conduct.
“The Amnesty Office shall not hesitate to sanction any beneficiary who breaches the peace as a result of this delay in payment of the November stipend”, he said.
