November 27, 2014 – The Faculty of Management Sciences statutory Board of Studies of LASU has passed a vote of confidence in the Vice Chancellor, Professor John Oladapo Obafunwa.

In a statement, Director, Information/Public Relation, Ms Ronke Osho said the decision was unanimously taken at the board’s meeting held on Thursday, November 20, 2014 at the Faculty.
She said that The Dean/Chairman, Professor Ade Oyedijo on behalf of the Faculty Board expressed profound appreciation and unflinching support for the Vice Chancellor and his administration.
“In his response, Professor Obafunwa equally expressed his appreciation to the Faculty members for their positive attitude towards work and support for the University Administration. He stated that he and his team would continue to work hard to do more to encourage members of staff’, she said.
According to her, the VC listed the following as some of his administration’s modest achievements amongst other developments:Establishment and strengthening of LASU CONSULT to generate more internal revenue for the University; National Universities Commission (NUC)’s approval for programmes such as LASU Foundation, Pre-Degree, Internal Part-Time, Open and Distant Learning, approval still being pursued; Excellent internet facility for the University; Great caution in the appointment of sabbatical staff in order to create avenue for the advancement of existing staff and approval of fund for road network system around the University.
On the issue of Ph.D certificates awarded to some candidates in the Faculty, the Vice Chancellor stated clearly that it was purely the decision of the University taken at its meeting of Thursday, October 30, 2014 as a result of complaints received to the effect. He said process leading to the award needed to be reviewed.
