November 4, 2014 – Despite ongoing battle between Nigeria’s military and members of the radical Islamic Sect, Boko Haram in the North-east, President Goodluck Jonathan said today that talks are still ongoing to ensure that over 200 girls kidnapped from Government Girls Secondary School, Chibok are released.

The president made the statement even after leader of the sect, Abubakar Shekau said in a new video that the sect is not into talks with anybody that he has already married out all the girls.
However, President Idriss Derby of Chad is leading talks with the sect.
Speaking at the Council of State meeting, Governor of Akwa Ibom State, Mr. Godswill Akpabio said the chief of staff informed the president at the meeting that talks aimed at freeing the girls was ongoing and that the President restated his commitment to do everything to ensure that the girls are released and protect the lives of every Nigerian.
He said council also gave approval to the need to sanction any foreign mission in Nigeria that is found to be working against the unity of Nigeria.
