November 14, 2014 – Lagos State Governor, Mr. Babatunde Fashola has unveiled ‘Lagos, A Visitor’s Guide’, the official tourism booklet of the Lagos State Government.

The 98 page booklet which is about 10 centimetres in length comes with an eight page colour pamphlet, ‘Lagos, A Quick Guide ‘, which gives the visitor a quick glimpse of Lagos at night and in the day time with information on where to go and means of getting around Lagos.
The booklets however opens with ‘Kaabo, a true welcome to Lagos’, with photograph of the Lagos State governor, Mr. Babatunde Fashola in his Eyo regalia and minute sculptural pieces often sold on the beach side in Lagos. Though the art works appear miniature, they nevertheless tell the true story of Lagos: The hustle and bustle, fun seekers and palm wine tappers. But there is more in the booklet, which provides information on festivals observed in the state and places of interest.
The ceremony was also used to grade hotels operating within the state. Speaking at the event, Fashola said that though there are about 3,000 hotels in Lagos, only 50 benefited from the grading exercise.
Fashola who spoke through Commissioner for Education, Mrs. Olayinka Oladunjoye called on hotels yet to key into the process to do so while those that would receive elevated grading must desist from being complacent.
Hotels were graded from 3 Star to 5 Star – results for hotels falling between 1 and 2 Star category were not released. According to the classification, hotels falling within the 3 Star category include Weston Hotel, Chesney Hotel, Lagos Airport Hotel and Protea Hotel(Westwood).
Hotels in 4 Star category based on grading by the Lagos State Government are Eko Hotel (Main building), Protea Hotel, Ikeja, Radison Blue, GRA, Ikeja and Southern Sun Hotel. Among those that cruised into the 5 Star category, which is the highest are Eko Signature, Intercontinental Hotel, Oriental Hotel and Federal Palace Hotel.
